Andy Catlow

Frontend Web Developer

I have found web development to be a very satisfying combination of creativity and problem solving. Unlike most developers I speak to, I actually enjoy using CSS and experimenting with its capabilities. I’m currently learning Next.JS and will be refactoring some of my projects to take advantage of its static site generation and hydration features.
It would be great to leverage my 15 years experience in education to help clients and colleagues reach their goals through constructive communication, patience, empathy and an ability to adopt new skills, knowledge and techniques.
Currently, I’m looking for a role where I can contribute to the success of projects, bringing a fresh eye and an eagerness to learn from those with more experience. I’m excited to see different perspectives and approaches to creating sites, components, features and to solving problems.

Projects

Smash It! Calorie Calculator

This serves as a lead magnet and customer tool for a nutritionist. Built using SolidJS for the logic and Astro for the page.

Cross Connect

Built using vanilla JS, HTML and CSS to keep data requirements smaller. I designed and built this site with close consultation with the client. I am continuing to advise them on improving their copy and developing service targetted landing pages.

Artists Portfolio

I built this portfolio site to allow my father to show off his amazing art work. It features a responsive design, full screen image enlargements and utilises Netlify form control.

Loop Studio Landing Page

A responsive landing page for a VR studio. Built from a design supplied by Frontend Mentor.

Music Player

Built using React and Sass. A responsive music player that highlights the tune playing in the library and changes images for each tune. This was completed as part of The Creative React and Redux Course by DevEd

EasyBank Landing Page

A responsive landing page for a digital bank. Built from a design supplied by Frontend Mentor.

Sunnyside Agency Landing Page

A responsive landing page for a creative agency. Built from a design supplied by Frontend Mentor.

Deadline Sorter

A 'no distraction, no nonsense' app built at the request of my wife, a primary school teacher, as she was struggling to keep track of all her deadlines. Deadlines can be added, marked completed, removed and sorted by due date.
